August 5

Dear Trinity Church,

Last week I preached on the Gnostic temptation to stand alone on spiritual tip-toes to connect with God, instead of hearing Jesus' command to love God by reaching out toward one another. (1 John 3:11). To help us keep repenting of our short-armed "chicken wing love" here are 3 ways to help us reconnect: Church Camp is a beautiful and leisurely way to spend the day together at Godspeed in the mountains. Bishop Ken will begin his 2 part zoom class on Body Parts: The Priesthood of all Believers Wednesday Aug. 11 @ 7:30pm. Starting this Fall, Small Groups will help us live at "the pace of being known" either in homes, or on Zoom depending on your comfort level. As for church this Sunday, WBBC kindly requests that adults not vaccinated please wear masks. And I request that anyone grateful to be alive please raise their hands in joyful praise to the One who freely lay down his life for our own. It was by remembering Jesus that James was able to write: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds . . ."

Facing trials with you in Christ, with joy!

Father Matt
