May and June at a Glance

May and June at a Glance

By Susannah Kellogg

Dear Trinity, A refreshing breeze blows through my open window as I sit down to write this letter tonight. We just finished putting the boys to bed after a rousing trampoline wrestling match with Nate. My table is decorated with daffodils I cut from my yard and Daniel and I have spent the past few days weeding our garden beds for planting. Spring is finally here! After a long winter, this coming of spring makes me feel like I can breathe again. Seeing birds flitting around the yard, flowers showing off their brilliant colors, and trees sprouting new leaves reminds me of the beauty of new life. It reminds me of our amazingly creative God who invites us to create alongside Him. Just as in nature, spring is a time for newness and growth, the next few months are a time for newness and growth at Trinity as well. Whether you're brand new to our congregation or have been attending for years, I invite you to consider which of the upcoming events you'll join in on! There simply isn't room for me to go in depth on all the upcoming events, but I wanted to highlight a few...

  • Join a Team Sunday: Are you wondering how to get involved in the life of Trinity? Maybe you've reached the end of your six months of rest and are ready to jump in. Maybe you've had a season where you haven't been able to serve in church. Maybe you just don't know there's a ministry team that fits your gifting because all you see on a Sunday morning are teams that don't interest you... On Sunday, May 7th, you will have the opportunity to learn about different teams and possibly discover one that suits your gifts, personality and desires. We have many opportunities for serving, whether you're an introvert or extrovert!

  • Confirmation Cohort: Inviting all Youth and Adults of Trinity Church to join our Confirmation Cohort, a 4-week class, including one Saturday retreat, beginning May 17th. This is a once-a-year opportunity for those of us who want to gather with others in our church to better understand our baptism in Jesus, as well as publicly declare our identity as one of the priesthood of all believers. All are welcome to come witness, worship and pray at the confirmation service on June 11, which will be led by Bishop Ken. At this service, the confirmands will renew their baptismal vows and ask for a fresh empowerment of the Holy Spirit to rest as God’s beloved child in Christ and to be equipped for ministry.

  • Newcomers Dinner: If you are new to our church in the last year, and haven't attended one of our newcomers dinners, we'd love to meet you and share stories around my dinner table! Come meet other newcomers as well as one of our pastors and staff members, and find out how you can take the next step in your path to belonging at Trinity Church. Feel free to bring your kids to this one! My boys will be sure to keep them entertained while the grownups chat.

  • Pentecost Feast: The Day of Pentecost marks fifty days since Easter Day and brings the Easter season to an end. It is a major feast of the Church's year when we recall how God's Holy Spirit was given to the disciples after Jesus' ascension, empowering them to begin the work of making disciples of all nations. We will be celebrating this Holy Day with a feast after second service!

As you can see, we have a lot of exciting events coming up in the life of our church! I'm excited to see what blossoms in our church family over the next few months! ~ Susannah ~

Message from the Sexton

The fool says in his heart…. "I don’t need help. I can do this myself."

I am afraid that for most of my adult life, this has been my M.O. But as I age I am growing wiser, or maybe it is my bad back, and I am forced to admit, I do need help, either with heavy lifting, or heavy thinking, or implementing skills that I just don’t possess. So, belatedly, I am asking for help. I need a building maintenance team.

I do have a short list of volunteers, most of whom I have never called because of my pride, but I need to beef it up. So if you would like to join the team, please let Carson or me know. My phone number is 509-881-0523, email is mandreini@nwi.net. I do not expect I would be calling on you often, and I understand how busy everyone is, so if you join this team, you can feel free to say no when it does not work out for you.

We can use people of any skill level, but if you have a specific skill, please specify, such as:

  • Handyman/woman

  • General laborer (changing lightbulbs, cleaning beyond janitorial, window washing, sweeping, etc.)

  • Grounds maintenance (mowing, weeding, snow shoveling, etc.)

  • Painting

  • Drywall finishing/patching

  • Electrical

  • Mechanical

  • Drafting

  • Sound system

  • Carpentering/woodworking

  • Plumbing

  • Irrigation

  • Planning/organizing

Thanks. There are fun (and a few not so fun) projects on the horizon.

Come and See!

We have started the final term for Sunday School! Before we break for summer, you are invited to come and see what happens in our classrooms on Sunday mornings just for fun OR to discern if you might like to join the team. Godly Play is a unique spiritual formation method that is best experienced in real time. Come and watch the story, wonder aloud and maybe even try doing art with the children.

Sunday School meets during the sermon at the 9:45 service.

Survey: Tell Us Where You’re Serving in the Parish

We are actively seeking God's guidance concerning how Trinity can best minister to those struggling in our community. As we go through the process of developing a parish ministry, we would like to know what you are already doing. Maybe you are a mentor at the Wenatchee Rescue Mission or perhaps you volunteer as a Lunch Buddy at a school in the valley. Please let us know what you are doing by taking the survey below.

  • Women’s Retreat: Ingalls Creek is hosting Never Alone: The Messy Way of Faith, May 5-7. Join women of every generation on the journey of faith. This time is for both the spiritually rooted and the spiritual orphans among us. This is a space where we hope to build connections across faith experiences and life circumstances.
