Worship in the Parish, Child Spirituality, All Church BBQ

Dear Trinity Church,

In three Sundays, on July 3rd, it’ll be "Worship in the Parish" Sunday.

Each Summer, we take one Sunday off from our own church in order to see what God is doing in other churches in our parish. Many of you haven’t experienced this unique tradition at Trinity before (and you might be puzzled: “Why would you want me to visit another church?”)… so let me explain!

WHY do we do this? Because we need reminders that our church is just one among many in our valley, seeking to be His Kingdom presence here in Wenatchee. It helps us wake up! It keeps us in a learning posture. And finally, the experience can help us give language to our strengths, our weaknesses, our growth points, and what makes us unique as a church.

HOW do we do this? By going and visiting other churches in the Wenatchee Valley to worship God and participate in the service as well as their fellowship time.

WHAT do we do with our observations? The following Sunday (July 10th), we will have ways for you to share your observations as well as hear from others. It's always an encouraging time as we learn and grow together.

In preparation, start thinking about a church you’d like to visit and then make plans to attend!

I look forward to hearing many stories…

Carson

Scripture: 1 Samuel 27 Book: Chapter 9: Company - David at Ziklag Preacher: Carson Leith

David is still in the "wilderness decade" of his 20s…continuing to run from Saul. In chapter 26, Saul and David part ways, supposedly on peaceable terms. But in chapter 27, David starts to think to himself that someday, Saul is going to get him. And so he decides to run to the coast, toward the Philistine city of Gath (Goliath’s hometown!). What happens next is baffling. This chapter, to be honest, made me wonder… “How is anyone supposed to preach on this?” But slowly, with patience and in community, I discovered a hidden subtext beneath this wild continuation of David’s story. And I can’t wait to tell you about it.

Service Times: 8:30 and 9:45

Upcoming Newcomers Dinner Tomorrow (Friday) June 17 @ 5:30pm

If you are new to our church in the last year, and haven't attended one of our newcomers dinners, we'd love to meet you and share stories around a dinner table at a host home in our parish. Come meet other newcomers as well as one of our pastors and staff members, and find out how you can take the next step in your path to belonging at Trinity Church. This one will be kid friendly, so feel free to bring your whole family! Last minute signups encouraged! Click below or text Susannah that you plan on coming at 509 710-5071.

Children's Spirituality Seminar June 29: 6:30-8:30

Are you interested in learning how children grow in their life with Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Do you wonder how you might journey with them as the Spirit reveals the great mystery of what it means to be a beloved child of God? And what did Jesus really mean when He said, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:3) I am grateful for several opportunities to explore this important part of our spiritual life. My journey includes a course in Child Theology at Regent College, workshops and book studies, becoming certified as a Children's Spiritual Director and being with children in Trinity Church. I am eager to share what God has shown me over the past several years! Whether you are a parent, grandparent, a spiritual parent or curious about Child Spirituality, please come for an evening to learn, discuss and experience childlike faith. I pray we will grow together in wonder and rest in the Father's love for all His children. We are excited to offer childcare, please register here!

Please contact Julia Barger at 509 630-2456 if you have any questions.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner July 6 @ 6pm

If you have volunteered on a ministry team this past year, we'd love to spend the evening together celebrating all that God did in and through us this past year! On Wednesday, July 6th @ 6pm, we are hosting a dinner at the MERCANTILE downtown for all our volunteers at Trinity. We want to show our appreciation for you, hear some stories from the past year, and cast vision for being Christ's body this next season, working together for the flourishing of our city. We look forward to seeing you!
