Planning Ahead...

Last year's baptism at Ingalls Creek

Dear Trinity,

It’s been a joy to journey through these past few weeks together, the initial start to the sabbatical. I want to remind you that you can reach out to me at 509.881.7737 or carson@trinitywenatchee.org for any pastoral needs you have, or to connect over coffee about something on your heart. Or as Nate said last week, any complaints ;)

I have a few miscellaneous things to share with you this week.

Serving on a Team for the Summer - Nate announced on Sunday that we are inviting you to consider trying out a team this summer. Just once a month to see how you like it, and then once the Fall comes, you can either continue or we can find something else that suits you better. The purple sheets of paper will be available again this week to fill out.

Ski Hill Hike - THIS Sunday. We look forward to seeing you and your family at the Ski Hill all ages Hike this Sunday from 4-6pm. Please bring a dinner, as we’ll be eating together around 5pm. Details here.

Church Family Camp, August 12-14 - In early June, we are excited to announce our speaker and more info about the weekend.

Baptism Sunday, September 18th - This year's baptism service will be held at Ingalls Creek on Sunday, September 18th at 10:30am. Other details about the feast and other aspects of the day will be announced later.

If you are interested in getting baptized, or having your child baptized (infant or teenager!), please let me know (509.881.7737 or carson@trinitywenatchee.org). We will have a few prep classes in late August / early September leading up to the Baptism.

Talent/No Talent Night - If you have a talent or something you're passionate about that you want to share with the Trinity family, please sign up here or email Nate (thenathank@gmail.com). This could be a juggling act you've perfected in your garage, an art project you've put together, a duet with your dog, a dance you've choreographed, a song you've written or a cover tune you perfected. We're interested in any and all types of talent! No prizes will be handed out (this isn't Trinity's Got Talent), just an evening to enjoy some family entertainment. Even if you don't have something to share, we need audience members to enjoy the evening too, so mark your calendar for June 12th for the show. The deadline to register to share your talent is June 8th.

That’s it for now…

Sincerely,

Carson+

Scripture: 1 Samuel 17 Chapter: "Imagination - David and Goliath" Preacher: Nate Kellogg

David and Goliath is a beloved story that has been told, retold, modified, and reimagined through the ages. There’s something about a good underdog story that grabs human hearts and imaginations. This Biblical passage slows down and gives us magnificent details that could allow us to see the sun glistening off Goliath’s armor and feel the cool water running over David’s hand as he takes the stones. These details allow us to imaginatively enter the story, but they are also a portal that allows us to enter the broader Biblical story of God redeeming and restoring all things through a coming King.

Service Times: 8:30 and 9:45

Help for Ukraine Collection Date: THIS SUNDAY - May 15th at Trinity Church

Rachel Whitson is working with other Wenatchee churches to help facilitate a supply collection for Ukraine and would love your help!

The collection date has been set for THIS SUNDAY - May 15th!

The following items are needed:

  • Reusable totes and luggage

  • Medical supplies (over-the-counter medications, first aid items, etc…)

  • Hand tools (nothing that needs to be plugged in)

  • Non-perishable food (no chocolate, and nothing canned - for melting and weight reasons)

  • Hygiene supplies including infant and adult diapers

  • Tents and camping supplies

  • Bedding (gently used is fine)

  • Clothing, footwear, and household items (kitchen utensils, etc) in very good shape

There is a great need for medical and first aid supplies and diapers of all sizes (including adult). The Slavic churches of Washington have connections to send those at no expense to their group that is coordinating this collection.

The containers that are shipping the non-urgent supplies cost $8000 each to ship. IMOCE, the ministry coordinating the shipment, is a tax deductible WA state non-profit organization. While clothes, household items, etc are still being collected, they are also collecting donations to help with these shipments. The graphic above gives information if you would like to donate financially.

Please bring your items to donate in reusable luggage, totes, or cardboard boxes if possible.

If you have any follow up questions, contact Rachel Whitson (509-885-6917) to get a collection time figured out.

** Urgently needed items such as medical and first aid supplies, diapers of all sizes (including adult), and shelf stable foods are being sent by air as they come in, and clothing and household items will be transported by ship and arrive 3-6 months from now. **
