Evensong Girls Update

Dear Trinity,

In a few days (April 24), our Evensong Choir will be singing yet another last-Sunday-of-the-month prayer service at 6pm. These girls are getting EXCITED because the momentum is building for their walking-singing trip to the "Golden Valley" situated on the border between England and Wales (For great medieval crime drama, with theology, romance and intrigue, you should read the Brother Cadfael novels to acquaint yourself with the region).

Why are these girls going on pilgrimage?

A new pilgrim route is being established by the Herefordshire Council, as Britain scrambles to save its old churches from being turned into wine bars, and instead keep these nearly-empty sacred buildings as places of prayer and spiritual exploration. This is what our tour guide, and "Rural Pioneer Priest" Simon Lockett, has written of pilgrimage:

"Walking a 'Pilgrim Way' sets physical targets while also experiencing the natural world. The sacred places encountered along the route can enhance the inner journey for the spirit too. The pilgrim hopes to return inspired and refreshed, and able to face life's challenges with new strength and purpose."

Simon is an old friend of Matt and Julie's, and will walk all 63 miles of the circular pilgrimage with us. He also has a heart for spiritual seekers, and has found that "pilgrimage" is something that people of deep faith - and of no faith - both are attracted to. See the pdf of our itinerary if you would like to pray with us, or find out what "champing" is!

We depart June 30th - as 12 singers + 4 mums + Matt & Julie.

Update on fundraising, from Nikki Fritz:

Hello everyone - thank you so much for your contributions thus far. The girls have busily been singing, babysitting, serving, planting, letter writing, etc. and are getting closer to their financial goals. Thank you for all of YOUR support thus far!

As we are quickly approaching our trip, we have a few more events on the horizon to push us to our final goal.

Watch for a variety show type concert late May or early June. This will give the girls an opportunity to reach out to the broader community and give a showcase of them as a group and individually.

Then, during Apple Blossom Festival they will be partnering with Young Life to serve during the Craft Fair.

Finally on June 11, they are having a plant and yard sale!! The seeds are planted and the seedlings are being tended.

PLEASE CONSIDER CLEANING OUT YOUR HOME FOR OUR GARAGE SALEJUNE

On June 11, at the church, we will be hosting a plant and yard sale. We would LOVE if you'd consider saving your donations of household items, gear, tools, clothes etc to give for our sale. We will accept donations on the evening of June 10. Final details including times to follow in weeks to come.

- Julie

Help for Ukraine

Rachel Whitson is working with other Wenatchee churches to help facilitate an upcoming supply collection for Ukraine and would love your help!

The collection date will be sent out in the near future but please start gathering supplies now!

The following items are needed:

  • Reusable totes and luggage

  • Medical supplies (over-the-counter medications, first aid items, etc…)

  • Hand tools (nothing that needs to be plugged in)

  • Non-perishable food (no chocolate, and nothing canned - for melting and weight reasons)

  • Hygiene supplies including infant and adult diapers

  • Tents and camping supplies

  • Bedding (gently used is fine)

  • Clothing, footwear, and household items (kitchen utensils, etc) in very good shape

They are also looking for additional facilitators, volunteers to help sort and pack, and vehicles and drivers willing to help with transport to Fife, WA.

Information about the collection date will be sent out soon. If you cannot hold onto the supplies until then or have any follow up questions, contact Rachel Whitson (509-885-6917) to get a collection time figured out.

** Urgently needed items such as medical supplies are being sent by air as they come in, and clothing and household items will be transported by ship and arrive 3-6 months from now. **

Goats and Mines Family Event

Only a Few Spots Left

Come meet Monte and Penny's new kids (of the goat variety)! The babies are precious, the weather should be fantastic, and the fellowship will be sweet.

For those who wish, Monte will lead a hike up to view some mines on his property. What a fun adventure!

This will be a family friendly event with limited capacity. RSVPs are required.

Parents - Ministry Safe is offering free access to their parent training video in April. This is time well spent on behalf of your children and our church.

This Sunday, we will begin our summer sermon series on the life of David. Since Father Matt is on sabbatical, we will be hearing from many different members of our church body throughout this series.
