Advent to Epiphany at-a-Glance

Dear Trinity Church, In the introduction to the book Living the Christian Year, Theologian Lauren Winner says, "One of my goals in life is to inhabit the Christian story so fully that Advent will be the instructive beginning of my year." On Sunday, November 28, that new year starts. And with it, an opportunity to be formed by the "wheel of becoming," as our lecture series puts it. Maybe you've been longing for a certain kind of change or growth in your life. Well, don't wait till January . . .the Christian new year begins next week! As we look toward Advent, I want to lay out a roadmap for you so that you can plan out your participation in the life of this Body--the Body of Christ. And when you participate, you aren't just "going to church events." You are participating in Christ! And being formed by Him. Here's what's coming up:

  • ADVENT I (8am & 9:15am)

Children remain in the Sanctuary for the whole service. 12/5 - The Feast of St. Nicholas - During the 9:15 am service children will be dismissed to the Fireside Room for an interactive drama about the life of St. Nicholas during the regular Sunday school time (between the Gloria and the Peace). 12/12 - Advent II - The Journey to Bethlehem (part 2) will be told in the worship service. Children remain in the Sanctuary for the whole service. 12/19 - Advent III - The Journey to Bethlehem (part 3) will be told in the worship service. Children remain in the Sanctuary for the whole service. Anticipating this season together, Carson+ p.s. - Please change the date for the Marriage Workshop in your calendars. We had to switch it from February 11-12 to March 11-12. Also check out this article from Tim Keller on facing his own diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. Some in our congregation are reading it and then discussing it and we thought we'd pass it along.
